this problem has existed for over a month where the realtek audio hd speaker/headphone no matter what i plug into my pc only plays through one ear. I also tested the stereo speakers/headphones and it plays the left and right sound on one ear, what do i do?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Since you are using Realtek Audio, you should be able to open the Sound Manager by clicking the Show Hidden Icons in the taskbar, looking at the popup window of icons, and right-clicking on the orange "speaker" icon.

Then, choose the Speakers tab and confirm under the Speaker Configuration that is says Stereo.

You then click the arrow button to the right of that, and it will play a sound, first through the left audio channel, and second, through the right audio channel.  If you don't hear sound from both, then most likely, you need to update your realtek audio drivers.

You can get the latest from here: https://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/5993-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version.html

I am using these and confirm that they work, but since they are a CAB file, you will have to do the following:

- Extract the cab file to a directory using winrar
- Open the Device Manager in admin mode
- Select the device and Click "Update Driver Software..."
- Browse and select the folder where you have extracted the cab
- Installs the driver

Good Luck

ive updated my drivers multiple times and even from the source, it still mixes the left and right channels into one speaker or one side of headphones plugged in

i can confirm that it is the realtek driver because every playback device i plug into it it plays through one side, bluetooth works fine
