Hi @jrnewman67,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

  1. Exact Model Confirmation
    • You mentioned both HP Omni Desk M02-0000a (A9RU1AV) and M20-2 0xxx — can you confirm which is your exact desktop model?
  2. Sound Behaviour
    • Are you not hearing sound through built-in speakers, external speakers, or headphones?
    • Is there any error message when trying to play audio?
  3. Recent Changes
    • Did this problem start after a Windows update, driver update, or hardware change?
    • Any recent installation of software that might affect audio?
  4. Device Manager Check
    • In Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers, do you see your audio device?
    • Is there a yellow warning icon, or does it say “disabled” or “not working”?
  5. Windows Sound Settings
    • In Settings → System → Sound, is the correct output device selected?
    • Can you see any sound levels moving when playing audio?

 Initial Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Audio Connections
    • If using external speakers or headphones, make sure they are properly connected and powered on.
  2. Run HP Audio Troubleshooter
    • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Playing Audio
  3. Update / Reinstall Audio Drivers
    • Visit the official HP Support page for your exact model and download the latest Realtek/Audio drivers.
    • Or in Device Manager, right-click your audio device → Update driver
  4. Check Default Playback Device
    • Right-click the speaker icon → Open Sound settings → Choose output device → make sure the correct one is selected.
  5. Test With Different Output
    • If possible, try headphones and speakers to see if either works.

To help you further, please provide:

  1. Exact HP Omni Desk model number
  2. Whether the problem affects speakers, headphones, or both
  3. Any recent updates or changes before audio stopped working
  4. What Device Manager shows under sound devices

I hope this helps.
