Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.
I understand you're experiencing issues with the sound system on your HP Desktop, and it seems the sound driver may not be updating properly. Let's work through this step-by-step to get your audio back up and running.

Check Basic Sound Settings

  1. Ensure speakers or headphones are properly connected.
  2. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
  3. Under Output, make sure the correct playback device is selected.

Run the HP Support Audio Troubleshooter

HP provides a built-in troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix audio issues.

Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand “Sound, video and game controllers.”
  3. Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, etc.) and choose:
    • Update driver → “Search automatically for drivers”
    • If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, then restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Alternatively, you can manually download the latest drivers:

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

You can run a full audio test using HP’s diagnostics tool:
