This is happening on my HP Compaq 6200 Pro MT and I'm currently locked out of it. Right now whenever I boot it up I get the error and it says "Press F1 to boot" or "Press ESC to Startup". The problem is, my keyboard does not recognize any inputs and I'm stuck at that screen.
I tried a few things:
- replaced the cmos battery
- pressed the cmos reset button
- took out the password jumper cable
- tried different usb ports for the keyboard
I will say I checked the voltage of the old cmos battery and it was outputting about 3V while the new one is around 3.4V. Those should be OK voltages but the error continues. Any help would be appreciated!

I suspect the CMOS battery caused the problem, but replacing it did not cause the reset to defaults. Since the keyboard and mouse where meant to be PS/2 type and the USB drivers are not being loaded at this point, in order to get the BIOS reset to defaults will require the use of at least a PS/2 keyboard.
Once the keyboard is recognized and the BIOS reset, then you can go back to the USB devices.
I'm not an HP employee.
