The disk is failing - or perhaps by now, has failed.
The main disk, sometimes referred to as "Disk 0", is where your local data is kept and where the Windows Operating system is located.
When the disk fails - goes bad - dies - the computer cannot be used until the disk is replaced.
Assuming you have kept up with your backups, that is, you make regular copies of your most critical data to someplace other than the computer (cloud, USB stick, backup server, for example), the process of replacing the disk is less painful in that once you have a new disk installed in the computer and Windows is loaded onto that disk, you can recover your data / files from your backups.
If you plan on doing the Recovery work yourself, the following information can be helpful.
