OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-024nl (ENERGY STAR)

Hello.

I changed my display, from a samsung 28" to a LG 27".

I have a secondary monitor, a Philips.

Please note that I may/may-not have changed the cabling.

Now, every time i boot up my OMEN HP Desktop (870-024nl) i get 3 long and 3 short beeps (repeated for 5 times)

Then the boot process continues as normal without any problem (I just cannot see the OMEN logo anymore) and also the system (and the 2 monitors) works fine.

Is there any way to get rid of those beeps ... or fix the problem they are trying to tell me 🙂?

Thanks.

Hello
in this case, it is possible that it is actually following a replacement / addition of screen
I have encountered this type of problem before.

and in this case, it is not a simple update of the graphics driver, but an update of its firmware!

HI

The BIOS error code you are hearing suggests a Graphics card problem. Changing a monitor should not cause this.

However, anything is possible.

Can you go back to the original configuration to see if the error stops? Looks like you have a Nvidia 1070. Try a driver update at this site: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Try integrated graphics. Remove the 1070. Use Intel  CPU graphics. Then try the 1070 again.

So, the problem was easily fixed:

The display was connected with a DisplayPort <-> DisplayPort cable.

Replacing that cable with a HDMI <-> HDMI (using of course different ports) made the trick.

Thank you for all your effort.

Have you tried the update, because it should solve this connector problem, is that what we found here?

No, i did not try the fw update (yet?)

I don't know if I'll do it, actually. Usually firmware updates are not idiotproof, and one discovers to be an idiot just after the proof has been revealed 😁

Jokes apart, for what I understood reading here&there on forums, using a DP connection for high bw displays is preferable, so I think i will try that. I'll let you know if I bricked my system 😉

Thank you, the firmware update procedure was actually idiotproof and successful.

Now my DP connection works without beeps.

Sorry, just saw your reply..
I had done this update, although not this problem, and success!
however indeed, I understand your fear, I could not have told you that it was without risk
But thanks for the feedback
had a happy end of the year
