30-40 second BIOS time after installing a new SSD

So, I recently bought an NVMe drive with 500GB of storage. And a PCIe 3.0 4x adapter along with it.

After installing the drive, I've noticed that boot times have increased by lots of seconds. The part that gets slowed down is the actual startup of the PC, before the keyboard gets power and the display comes up.

Going into BIOS, I can disable the PCIe x4 slot and that fixes the slowdown.

I've tried a lot of things and I don't really know what else to do, any help?

If relevant, I have installed another thing which is an extra stick of ram which was long ago. I've also got a portable 2tb hdd but removing it doesn't really do anything.

I see you have a 256 GB M.2 drive installed in the M.2 socket integrated on the MB. I presume the operating system is on this drive.

Adding the PCIe M.2 adapter for additional storage may be causing the additional BIOS load time.

I don't know what to tell you. Move the operating system to the new 500 GB M.2 SSD and install this device in the MB M.2 socket. Eliminate the M.2 PCIe adapter.

Or stay the course and live with a respectable 30-40 second boot time.

Hello,

My windows 10 operating system is installed on the new 500GB drive, the one with the adapter. I just chose to get an adapter because I was not sure if the M2 drive I bought would fit into the slot I already have.

The drive that is currently in there has two keys (two holes or however you explain) and the one I bought has one key. Would that one I bought really fit into the slot I have? If so then I can attempt a switch for faster booting. I just need confirmation

Additional info, I've noticed my GPU doesn't get as hot as it used to. Not sure if this means something
