OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-1350st CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

hi,

I have OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000i with Win 10 I think and I upgraded to Win 11. I upgraded graphic card to the following one from Intel

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/229151/intel-arc-a770-graphics-16gb/specificati...

I tried with just bare min and no external disks and with external drives, the results are kind of same. Please check the following url on what I'm facing, do not know if this falls under bootloop,

https://youtube.com/shorts/hsElOlHwLa8?feature=share

It goes into this loop for some time and runs normally, there is no consistency in this behaviour.

I also have another issue, I'm not a gamer, but I do video editing  and photo editing a lot, the system reboots all of a sudden, during initial days it use to reboot once in a while and now its almost like every 10+ min.

I took the unit to Microcenter and they kept in the store for almost 3 weeks + and couldn't able to find or pin point what the issue is. They said Power Supply is good, motherboard is good, CPU, GPU, etc are all running fine. They finally said may be I can try to install OS on a new NVME. I already have it installed on two (on the second I did an image copy) and both behaving same. Never tried to install on a new NVME from scratch, I can, but thing is I have to re-install all the softwares, which I can do, but do not know if that is going to solve my problem.

Please let me know what kind of logs will help to analyze from my side and I can upload them.

Hi @CGImpression,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can try to offer some general suggestions that might help with the issues you're facing.

Boot Loop Issue:

  • Check if there are any BIOS or firmware updates available for your OMEN 30L Desktop GT13. Updating these may resolve compatibility issues with Windows 11 and the new graphics card.
  • Ensure that all drivers, especially for the new Intel Arc graphics card, are up to date.
  • Try disabling Fast Startup in Windows 11. You can do this in the Power Options settings.

Random Reboots:

  • Overheating could be a potential cause. Make sure your system is adequately cooled, and check if all fans are functioning properly.
  • Monitor the temperatures of your CPU and GPU using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner.
  • Consider checking the Event Viewer in Windows for any critical errors or warnings that might provide insight into the cause of the sudden reboots.

OS Installation on New NVME:

  • While it may be a bit time-consuming, a fresh installation of the operating system on a new NVME could help rule out any software-related issues.
  • Ensure that all drivers are installed correctly after the fresh OS installation.
  • Reinstall your necessary software gradually to identify if any specific application is causing the reboots.

Before making significant changes, it's crucial to back up your important data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

hi, sorry for the late response. Thank you very much for your info. In fact I almost did all of what you have mentioned. I did install on a brand new NVME and started with disconnecting all drives and attachments. Ran with basic NVME. My updates OS wise are all upto date, including graphics card. BIOS is also up todate.

Windows logs (event viewer) was giving various errors and they are not consistent, I followed almost all solutions, but none helped me to get rid of those. I did use some tools to monitor temperature and they are all fine. I have a mini portable fan (external table top) that runs and circulates the air around, and so I do not see any issues.

Recently I did remove RAM and cleaned and inserted back into new slots, right now it looks like it is running okay, but have to see, as I'm turning it on only when I work on this PC, else I'm turning it off, earlier it was on 24x7.

hi Alden, now I'm getting bunch of

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk4\DR4."

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3."

also I see 'DistributedCOM' errors like

"The server {AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."

how to find which disk is causing the above error.

I see the above in 'System' logs of 'Event Viewer'

@Alden,

I'm back to same problem, of course this time its restarting like 2-5 times, earlier it was doing like 10-20+/-.

Could some loose connection between any components causing this? How to narrow it down and identify the problem?
