I have installed a MXM card to boost the graphics support on my computer, but now my PC won't boot. I've read the error manual and this means a power supply failure. Is there any way to get by this, or upgrade my power supply?

Hi:

I assume you have the 8200 Elite USDT?

If so, yes, you will have to buy the power supply that is required when you add the mxm card.

180W 87% efficient external Power Adapter (when configured with discrete graphics)

AC adapter, 180W   HP Part #  613766-001

See page 23 of the quickspecs at the link below...

You currently have the 135W P/S which cannot power up the PC with the add on graphics card.

I also assume you were able to find the heat sink that goes on top of the mxm card?

I think those are pretty hard to come by.

Heat sink - MXM graphics card (includes thermal material)   HP Part # 646807-001

Without the heat sink, the graphics card will probably burn out in a matter of a couple of minutes.
