I was messing with my ram a bit and when I turned on my pc I heard 5 short beeps.

Not sure what is causing this problem.

Hi:

5 beeps, with a corresponding red flashing power LED, means there is some kind of issue with the memory.

See the service manual at the link below, chapter 11, page 303 for the 5 beep code troubleshooting steps.

There is no red flashing light when I do it it just Beeps 5 times and stops.

Then I don't know what 5 plain beeps are.

There is nothing in the service manual regarding any other beep codes.

I suggest you go through the memory troubleshooting steps anyway.

You have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Where is the location of the red flashing light?

HP Recommended

On the front panel...the power light that is normally green will flash red the same amount of times as the beeps.
