Hi my computer's an HP p6-2302ean.
Graphics nvidia310 (recently updated sucessfully I think).
System BIOS: JOS_809.rom v8.09
I'm getting a blank screen at startup with orange light at the power button and six beeps. Can't access even the bios.
The story is: I was in the bios changing the boot order, and I clicked on "apply defaults and startup", or something to that effect, and then I got the six beeps. I don't normally apply defaults and can't now remember why I did it this time!
I can't find the meaning of six regular beeps for this particular machine anywhere on the internet.
Can anybody here help?
Many thanks.

Hi:
6 beeps = a video issue.
When you applied the default settings you probably changed the secure boot setting.
Remove the video card, connect to the onboard video and restart the PC and see if it works.
If it does, go back into the BIOS, disable secure boot. Save the setting, restart the PC and see if it works.
If it does, shut down the PC and reinstall the Nvidia 310 GPU connect it back up to your monitor and it should work again.
The problem is that since you installed a legacy graphics card in your PC, with secure boot enabled, the PC rejects the card as a supported device.

Thank you Paul,
I will try this as soon as I can but I have a hold-up in the form of a monitor with a vga plug, and the vga socket is only on the graphics card.
What I take to be the on board video sockets are dvi, so I'll have to procure a suitable monitor from somewhere.
As a result I may be a while responding, but in the meantime thanks again.
I'll let you know how it goes.
