6000 Pro SFF
Linux

Hello

I've got an older desktop 6000 Pro SFF machine that works fine for what it does. The other day I bought a new perixx wired keyboard that has an integrated touch pad (trying to get away from the mouse)

When I plug it in, the computer will only flash "-" on the screen and not boot

if I unplug thekeyboard and reboot it will boot and if I wait until the bios messages start and plug the keyboard back in it works perfectly fine until I turn the computer off again

No beeps or anything just freezes before anything is displayed on the screen (normally it would put the memory up)

I didn't see anything in the bios that looks out of place but there must be something that I need to turn off ???

Thanks

B

I'm sorry, but HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled.

IF you replace that with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

Good Luck

Since it's not even getting through the POST / BIOS  I don't believe it's a linux issue.

I've  reset the  BIOS to default settings and it now most times will make it past this point and fully boot but not every time. 8 or 9 times out of 10 it's ok, reboot will usually let it in the next time but that's not a great solution.

I was looking for some setting that would let it ignore the usb ports during POST I guess

Thanks
