Google the problem and up came this forum but deleting and replacing the HP 3D DriveGuard did not fix the problem after trying it 3 times. What solved the problem was updating/fixing the 2 Visual C++ files that you can download from MS. Once those files were updated/fixed the error messages went away on startup. I have a HP ENVY laptop.
Here is the link for the files
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
I also have a ZT Systems desktop and when the latest Windows 10 update was installed on that machine I did not have this problem. From what i can tell this is only an HP problem .
BTW, I am not a student and can't find a way to change that. I was a Program Manger, now retired.

@Lorac17 wrote:I just started getting this error message on start up. I have tried to uninstall HP 3D DriveGuard from settings/apps and features but it does not appear in the list. I also tried but failed to uninstall from the control panel. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this error message much appreciated

Found a link to reload Visual C++ 2015 at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685. Downloaded two files: vc_redist.x64.exe & vc_redist.x86.exe. Ran the two files, and restarted my laptop. No error appeared during startup. Checked the Task Manager to find the AccelerometerSt.exe was running.
All smiles. Thanks for your insite on this issue.

I keep following the instructions to delete my HP 3D DriveGuard then installing by clicking on the link provided to reinstall. It will work until the next time I have to restart or power off my computer then error happens again. Is there a more permanent solution?

Thanks for all the help I used the link from Aceman, bit wierd but i used 2015 updates and it opedened one file
C++2017 redist.64x.exe oped and installed NO ERROR on start up wanted to see if it was running looked in Task manager
does not show as a running app but in Background services I find
HP accelleromerter system Tray CPU % and Mem 0.9 meg?
