HP x360 - 11-ab101tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Originally 1.. Screen would not switch on after sleep

then

2.. Regardless of which way a shut down occurs viz soft or hard I have to hold the power button for six seconds, release then press again to start.

now

3.. After  Chat assistant advised to update BIOS re 1.. above, which was done via this website my BIOS admin pw is not recognised.

Laptop HP Convertible x360 11ab101tu.

Dual Boot  WIN10 and various flavours of Linux, successful for last 12 months

Concurrent to 1,2,3 above WIN10 would not Boot, Linux yes. Had to clean entire drive and reinstall everything from scratch, no biggy really but 1,2,3 are a headache.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank You

The <BIOS admin password> remains unchanged after bios update. Connect external USB keyboard and double check your current password.

Kind regards

Thanks for your reply Ub6424

I have a basic working knowledge of the electronics involved here ie separate ic's for BIOS and pw with the BIOS being switched by the pw NVRAM, so the BIOS is dependent on the pw IC ( earlier systems ) ergo BIOS change should not affect pw.

I obtained a new usb keyboard and tried the pw several times but no go.

Just flesh the issue out a little for your benefit

1.. Mainly multiboot Linux on one of several partitions with Win10. The OS would  go to sleep if unattended for 5min or so and nothing short of a hard boot would restart the system.

2.. I tried to open Win10 to see if it was the same. No boot and none of the repair functions worked. Result was to format entire drive and reinstall Win10. This went OK except the sleep issue remained. The robot help assistant suggested to update the BIOS, which I did. The sleep issue remains.

3.. Now BIOS pw unrecognised

4.. And I can not boot from any USB except for the Windows recovery USB.  ( Selected Boot Image did not authenticate )
