HP All-in-One PC 24-dp0000wa (7TT85AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Recently began locking up with black screen requiring hard boot. Then displayed 100 or more rectangles with green dotted lines on boot up. Now will not boot.  UEFI diagnostic tests all pass. Sometimes displays Connecting to Network screen but my router reports it does not connect.

Hello @freeindeed2 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

It's not uncommon for a PC to experience boot and display issues, which can typically be traced back to hardware or software malfunctions. Here's a step-by-step guide to help address the problems you're facing with your HP All-in-One PC 24-dp0000wa:

1. Check for Loose Connections

Ensure that all the cables connected to your PC and display are securely plugged in and free from any visible damage.

2. Hardware Diagnostics

Since the UEFI diagnostic tests passed, it indicates potential issues at a software level or with components not covered by the basic diagnostics:

Run Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI): Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to perform in-depth testing of components. Navigate to the boot menu and select the diagnostics tool to test components like the memory and hard drive.

3. Boot in Safe Mode

Attempt to boot your PC in Safe Mode. This can help identify if a recent driver update or software installation is causing the issue. You can access Safe Mode by restarting the computer and pressing the F8 key (for Windows 7) or through Advanced Startup options for Windows 10/11 by holding Shift while clicking Restart.

4. Graphics Troubleshooting

External Display Check: If possible, connect your All-in-One to an external monitor to see if the display issue persists. This can help determine if the internal display is problematic.

Display Settings Reset: Adjust or reset the display settings to ensure they are not causing the issue.

5. Network Connection Issues

Since you mentioned your PC sometimes displays the “Connecting to Network” screen but fails to connect, ensure your network settings are correct. You may need to manually re-enter your Wi-Fi details.

Check if the wireless module is recognized by the system. If not, this could suggest a hardware issue.

6. Software Recovery

Consider performing a system recovery if the above steps don't resolve the issue. Ensure your data is backed up, as this process can result in data loss.

7. Driver and BIOS Updates

Update Drivers: Ensure that all hardware drivers are up-to-date, especially the graphics and network drivers.

Update BIOS: Sometimes, updating the system BIOS can resolve intricate issues. Ensure the system is connected to a reliable power source while performing this update.

8. Professional Assistance

If the issue persists after trying these steps, consider reaching out to HP Support for more detailed troubleshooting or servicing your PC.

For additional support, refer to HP's online support resources where you can access drivers, manuals, and other troubleshooting tools.
