HP All-in-One PC 27-dp1086qe

I inadvertently unplugged my computer yesterday evening. When I attempted to start it today it acted like it was going to start but nothing was on the display and it seemed like it's stopped running shortly after turning it on. However the power light continued to light up. I have no way of seeing what's going on on the screen and apparently no control through the keyboard or mouse. Can anyone help me please?

Hi @Geoffrey22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The issue with your HP All-In-One PC 27-Dp1086qe not displaying anything after being unplugged could be due to several factors, including a power supply issue, a corrupted BIOS, or a hardware failure. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Power Reset

Performing a power reset can help clear any residual electrical charge that might be causing the issue.

  1. Turn off the PC and disconnect the power cable.
  2. Unplug all external devices (keyboard, mouse, external drives, etc.).
  3. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
  4. Reconnect the power cable and try turning on the PC again.

2. Check Power Supply

Ensure that the power supply is working correctly.

  1. Verify the power outlet by plugging in another device to ensure it is working.
  2. Check the power adapter and cable for any visible damage. If you have another compatible power adapter, try using it.

3. Inspect Display Connections

Ensure that the internal display connections are secure.

  1. Check the internal connections by opening the back cover of the All-In-One PC if you are comfortable doing so (refer to the user manual for instructions).
  2. Verify the display cable connecting the motherboard to the screen is securely connected.

4. External Monitor Test

If possible, connect your All-In-One PC to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the internal display.

  1. Connect an external monitor using an HDMI cable.
  2. Turn on the external monitor and the PC to see if anything is displayed on the external screen.

5. BIOS/UEFI Reset

Resetting the BIOS can help if it has become corrupted.

  1. Turn off the PC and disconnect the power cable.
  2. Open the back cover and locate the CMOS battery (refer to the user manual for exact location).
  3. Remove the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes to reset the BIOS.
  4. Reinsert the CMOS battery, reconnect the power cable, and turn on the PC.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @Geoffrey22,

Kindly find the next set of steps below.

6. Boot in Safe Mode

If the PC powers on but doesn't display anything, try booting into Safe Mode.

  1. Turn on the PC and repeatedly press the F8 key (or Shift + F8 for some systems) during startup.
  2. Select Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot Options menu.

7. Hardware Diagnostics

HP PCs often come with built-in hardware diagnostics tools that can help identify the problem.

  1. Turn on the PC and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI menu is displayed.
  2. Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.

If none of the above steps work, it might be a more serious hardware issue, Contact HP phone support for service options.

Additional Tips

  • Check for any beeps or error codes: When you turn on the PC, listen for any beeps or look for any flashing lights that could indicate specific error codes.
