Microsoft Windows 11

Context. I'm attempting a repair of a customer HP desktop. It's motherboard had gone bad. I bought a near identical computer from eBay to use as spares. I swapped out the motherboard but kepted all the components from the customers computer likes RAM, Graphics, WiFi card, SSD, CPU (10th Gen, same as original) etc and rebuilt his computer. I managed to get it working until there was a Windows 11 update. I simply restarted the computer and before long the computer now gives me a BIOS corruption warning and the backup recovery fails. I get 2x long beeps and 2x short beeps to confirm this. I also get a couple blue messages onscreen - one telling me the BIOS is corrupt and the other after the BIOS recovery attempt fails. All USB ports are not working so I cannot manually install BIOS from USB or follow any keyboard commands. I've reset CMOS via jumper but nothing is working. I'm getting this motherboard is now beyond repair?

The only suggestion I can offer would be to make a USB BIOS recovery flash drive with the correct BIOS for the PC's system board ID.

As long as the USB ports have power, PC is supposed to automatically detect the BIOS files on the flash drive.

This is the procedure to recover the BIOS with the USB BIOS recovery flash drive:

1. Power off the device to be recovered.

2. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.

3. Power on the device.

4. The device may reboot up to 3 times with indicator lights on the keyboard flashing, or the screen appearing blank for short time.

Unfortunately the keyboard doesn't work because USB ports have stopped working. I'm sending this computer back now anyway. Thanks for a quick response though.

You're very welcome.

You don't need to use a keyboard or mouse to use the USB BIOS recovery drive.

1. Power off the device to be recovered.

2. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.

3. Power on the device.

The only thing that needs to work is the power button.
