HP Pavilion P632uk Desktop PC

The following two lines are displayed at switch-on:-

"Default BIOS settings have been loaded due to BIOS update or checksum issues .

Press F10 to enter setup. otherwise, the PC will continue".

The PC appears to boot correctly and all is well except that the time and date are incorrect, they have not changed from the previous day. On looking into the BIOS I note that the date information is completely incorrect, just showing random numbers. If I correct this the time and date will display correctly until the following day. The time has to be entered as per US  month, date, year, not as per UK which is day, month, year.

I can reset the time and date via the Control Panel and set it for Internet syncing. But this appears to take some time to have an effect at the following boot up.

HP assistant advises that BIOS software and drivers are up to date. Any ideas on what to do, please?

Hi:

It sounds to me like you will need to replace the CR2032 coin cell (CMOS) battery on the motherboard that maintains the BIOS and system clock settings.

I cannot find any manuals that show how to replace the battery but here is an illustration of the motherboard which shows the location of the CMOS battery:

MSI MS-7613 HP Iona-GL8E Motherboard Intel H57 Express LGA 1156 DDR3 | eBay

General instructions for how to replace the battery:

Thank you for your answers, I does seem to be the CMOS battery which is at fault, I will check this out later.
