Hi @claudepi1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Slim Desktop – S01-pF1048xt is stuck in a boot loop with no display after a failed BIOS update. Let’s go through what recovery options really exist.

Step 1: Attempt HP BIOS Recovery from USB

  • On a working Windows PC, go to the official HP support page and download the BIOS file for your exact model (use the correct country/region site).
  • Extract the BIOS file to a USB flash drive formatted FAT32.
  • Turn off the affected desktop.
  • Insert the USB drive into a USB port on the desktop.
  • Press and hold Windows key + B, then press and hold the Power button for ~2–3 seconds.
  • Release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see activity.
  • Wait up to 10 minutes for recovery to start automatically.
  • If nothing happens after 10 minutes, remove the USB and repeat once more slowly.

Step 2: Try Alternate BIOS Recovery Key Sequence

  • With the USB still inserted, try Windows key + V instead of B while powering on.
  • Keep holding for up to 30 seconds.
  • Look for any LED blink codes, beep sequences, or signs of BIOS recovery starting.
  • Some HP desktops use Windows + V for recovery instead of just B.

Step 3: Ensure USB is Prepared Correctly

  • USB drive must be FAT32, not NTFS.
  • Only the correct BIOS files from HP should be on the root of the drive (no folders).
  • Try multiple USB sticks and different USB ports.
  • Avoid USB hubs, connect directly to the desktop.

Step 4: Remove All Peripherals

  • Unplug everything except keyboard, monitor, and power cable.
  • Remove additional USB devices, spare drives, and expansion cards.
  • Power on and retry BIOS recovery sequences.
Sometimes other hardware blocks BIOS recovery routines.

I hope this helps.
