Operating System: Linux

I have an HP Compaq 6000 running Ubuntu 14.04, and when I plug in my Logitech HD Pro C920 Web Cam and try to boot, the computer gets stuck on the BIOS.

 

In fact, if I go into BIOS settings, then plug in the webcam, the BIOS freezes immediately.

I have changed the boot order, disabling USB completely from the boot sequence. I don't have an option for legacy USB support. It doesn't matter whether the cam is plugged into the front or back ports. There doesn't appear to be a BIOS update on HP's website.

First I would ask if any other USB device causes a problem similar to the one this Logitech HD Pro C920 Web Cam is causing?  If "No" or "IDK"- then experiment to see.  That will tell if the webcam is faulty or the USB ports.

Thanks for the reply. This only happens on this computer, with this device. If I plug it into other computers, they boot fine. If I have any other devices plugged into this computer, it also boots fine.

That is strange.  On this computer - are there any other USB devices plugged in also?  If "Yes" try booting with all of those other devices unplugged.  See if it boots Ok then.

Hi, I started the computer with all other USB devices unplugged, and still had the same problem.
