Trying to upgrade system Bios from old version V1.11 to new version 1.20 rev. A on my HPXW4100 workstation running Win-XP prof. I Downloaded the latest Bios "SP28823.exe" file from HP support site. Followed the instruction by running the download SP28823.exe file . After running the program and agreeing to terms and conditions , the upgrade program runs in few seconds and ends as if everything fell through alright. But the system Bios remains unchanged and still is on V1.11 as before without change. I wonder if anyone has had this experience and can recomend a solution in how to upgrade the BIOS on this particular computer model. .... with Regards...

Hi:
Open the file contents of sp28823, and you will find several methods to update the BIOS.
The easiest one to me appears to be either burning the ROMPaq CD iso file to a CD so that it is bootable or make the bootable usb flash drive.
There is a html file included in the sp28823 file with instructions for the various ways of flashing the BIOS.
If your PC has a FDD, you can make the bootable diskette to flash the BIOS as well.
You can find the file in C:\SWSetup\sp28823.
