Hello.
Need help with a BSOD issue. I recently installed a NVIDIA Quadro K2200 graphics card in my Elite 8200 CMT.
On power up, the windows logo briefly displays then the monitor and keyboard shut off. After several minutes, the BSOD appears with the above message and the system shuts down then restarts. Windows 10 then loads without issue.
The issue only happens during power on. It used to happen on restart but I saw a post by Paul_Tikkanen that corrected the restart problem - update to BIOS version 28. The restart issue was corrected by the BIOS update but the issue "shifted" to power on.
Any thoughts on how to solve this once and for all? Paul_Tikkanen, hopefully you can weigh in on this one.
Thank you!

Hi @ACJC-001
My pleasure.
I have never had to use MBR2GPT.exe.
Check this Site for additional MBR2GPT.exe info. Or search for additional info on this topic.
It looks like you can convert the disk with no data loss, but nothing is certain in life. Think about using disk imaging software to create a disk backup of the MBR config on external media before doing the disk conversion.
Create the required imaging software USB recovery drive needed to copy the offline image backup to the target drive outside of the operating system.
Test the backup image recovery process to the target drive before converting the target drive.
I currently use Paragon Community Edition (free) to create backup disk images to external SATA SSDs using a SATA to USB 3.0 adapter.
You will have to adjust the BIOS so you can boot to the GPT disk if the drive conversion is successful.
Regards

hi @ACJC-001
Welcome to the HP Forum.
If this issue started immediately after adding a new component then I would start there.
Check this Microsoft site for troubleshooting tips. Select "Remarks" at this site to see some steps to fix the problem.

Hi @Bill_To
Thanks for the response. It turns out not to be a hardware issue. I reactivated the built-in graphics adapter then removed the graphics card. the issue remains.
As I think back, I had to do a clean install of Windows 10. During the process, something went wring and I wound up installing it with Legacy boot. In the BIOS, EFI is disabled.
I read a post that stated Microsoft has a disk utility, MBR2GPT.exe, that converts a disk without data loss.
Have you, or anyone else,. successfully used this utility (not having to reinstall Windows)?
Its an odd issue as it only happens on power on. Restarting is fine. Also, the system no longer splashes the HP logo...
With Regards

Hi @Bill_To,
Thanks again for your insight. I think for now, I'll leave things alone for the time being. I'll always have the posts to refer back to if I decide to go for it in the future.
Happy Holidays!
