Hello. A few days ago I updated to win11, and everything worked for 2 days, but then I just tried to casually turn on my PC and heard the loud beeps, then message bios had been corrupted. After that pc tried to restart itself, but just got black and nothing ever happened. Had to shut it down by force.
After that I followed all the instructions found online, I have taken off CMOS battery for 2 hours, installed a completely new battery, I have created a bios recovery usb stick to flash it, but no usb port works, I can't connect a keyboard, neither does it recognize the USB drive. I also took the tip to remove ssd drive, which actually gave then the message telling the recovery files were not found. This did not appear with ssd connected.
The motherboard is erica 2. Any suggestions, or do I have to buy a new one? It's even really hard to find a replacement, so I could just buy a new PC, and attach the working parts to it, if they even work. I can't know, because nothing works, and I can't test the parts. I have only laptops aside the desktop that just broke
It's tragic that the PC is just under 3 years old. I wonder how is it possible for it to break so fast, even if I use it 10 hours per day. And it has already been showing some signs for a while, since usb ports and so have been malfunctioning randomly from time to time

Hi @XDE
Welcome to the HP Forum.
It sounds like you have received a faulty BIOS update from HP or Windows update. Disconnecting the system drive reveals the BIOS recovery files are on this drive. I think the files are either corrupted or not intended for this MB.
Erica2 MB specs can be reviewed at this HP Site (Motherboard Description). The MB SSID should be 8643 per this HP site.
It looks like a catch 22 situation. You need to use USB to install the correct BIOS files but you have no USB function.
The only option besides replacing the MB is to have a local PC tech update the BIOS using a Serial BIOS chip programmer. You would have to weigh the cost to fix using this method vs buying a new PC.
The Tech could use BIOS update options provided by HP at this Site. I would scroll down to an earlier BIOS version (Revision History) to be on the safe side.
