The BIOS update was initiated through Windows Update. The BIOS recovery USB was successfully created using HP’s BIOS recovery utility for ROM Family SSID 86F3. I connected the recovery USB with the computer powered off and tried Windows+B exactly as described. I also tried Windows+V. Neither method opens the BIOS Recovery screen; the computer returns to “The System BIOS update failed. Unable to open BIOS Image file.” I do not currently have another USB flash drive. Is there another recovery method for this model when Windows+B and Windows+V do not start BIOS Recovery?

When you made the USB BIOS recovery flash drive, weren't there instructions on the screen for how to use it?

 

I solved a failed BIOS problem for another member with a PC that has the same motherboard.

 

Solved: I need help to find the bios for HP All-in-One 24-df0xx - HP Support Community - 9661506

 

I referenced the procedure to recover the BIOS in the discussion.
