OMEN 30L GT13-1194

I am working on my buddies Omen 30L (GT13-1194) .  He was getting a no screen (monitors say not connected), he could reboot and it would work for a while. He also updated the drivers for the graphics card ( RTX 3060 ti) . He also downloaded a stress test tool for his machine( basemark).  Within a few seconds of the start of the test.. screens go off.   Then he wouldn't get any type of graphics for several hours, no beeping or any thing other than lights and fans runs up then it shuts down.   He brought me the graphics card and I put it in my machine (ASUS Prime Z390-A) and it works fine, and runs thru the same stress test with zero issues.  He put it back in his machine and now sometimes gets 3 long beeps and 3 short higher pitched beeps... the fans will run up then the whole machine shuts down. He then replaced the power supply, same thing.   I cant seem to find any manuals other than the regular owners manual on this thing... All the other links on the HP site are broken links.  I have pulled every plug/ card off the motherboard including the CMOS battery. I cant even get the OMEN screen and the majority of the time I get the 3 beeps followed by 3 beeps.  I tried his RAM (2X  HP37D4U1S8ME0... in my machine and my machine wont boot... no beeps.. just lights and fans.  I put 2 of my sticks of ram (Cosair CMK32GXM2B3200C16) in his.  This is non-ecc DDR4 3200 1.35v 32G of ram. I put them in slots labeled DIMM1 and 3 in his machine.... Still same thing.  My buddy believes he took the ram out of slots 2 and 3.

Seems like a manual for this hana motherboard would be helpful.  Google searches haven't helped much for the beeps or if DIMM 1/3 is a bank and 2/4 is a bank.   Google images for the Omen 30L appears that there are a lot of "30L" builds, most only has 2 RAM slots.   Im also very puzzled why his RAM wont work in my machine...  both are non-ecc 288pin DDR4 , my manual says 2/4/8/16 GB DIMM are compatible with mine.

hi

here just this

The red light blinks three times, and then three, short white light blinks (3 long red, 3 short white)

This condition indicates a potential graphic chip failure.

Contact HP Customer Support for further assistance.

a ram problem will be 3 then 2

No integrated graphics

  • The Hana motherboard does not support integrated graphics.

I cant see it being the actual graphics card since it works fine in my machine.    I defiantly get the 3 long and 3 short beeps... no flashing red or white lights.  Any idea where I should be seeing lights?

Ill will try his RAM in my machine again in a few mins, but mine doesn't beep/ or boot though the RAM lights up and my fans run.

Will the hana motherboard boot into BIOS without a processor on the board?  The CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5000 series.

This thing is literally2 weeks out of the 1 year warranty.

for the error code, it's with or without led, it doesn't matter

if you have done everything possible, then you will have to consult a professional I think

The graphics card yes, works ok, but if it came from the motherboard, problem with the pci slot or other, then the card cannot work, it is possible that it indicates the same error code
Finally, this type of error code is difficult to diagnose exactly, hp only provides one document:

HP Desktop PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code | HP® Customer Support

no if no  processor, we also get a problem beeps codes, in general

"Will the hana motherboard boot into BIOS  "

and if you follow this :

The Hana motherboard does not support integrated graphics.

no graphics, no display !

Ok, Im back.  I put both of his sticks of ram in my machine which a quick check that activates a CPU light then a DRAM light then a VGA light.

Both his sticks together= CPU light , then  DRAM light then after ~20 secs it starts the light sequence again.

Same thing with Stick #1

With Stick #2 it will boot after failing one time. So around 30 seconds to booting sequence

With my RAM.. goes right thru every time.  CPU..DRAM...VGA ..~3-5 seconds.

In his machine (putting in DIMM1)- Again not sure if that matters or if there is a recommended slot.

with Stick #1... no beeps, just fans

With just Stick #2... I get the 3 beeps followed by 3 beeps after around 20 seconds.

No sticks .. I get 3 beeps followed by 2 instantly

With my sticks I get 3 beeps / 3 beeps within around 5 seconds.

So this machine started with bad ram and I think he has created the graphics card issue.  I have 2 sticks from my machine in slot 1 and 3...  I will try the old power supply after lunch. The new one is corsair RM850x which has several sockets labeled PCI-e/CPU ... and I am using the PCI-e with the 6+2 on the graphics card, I have tried other ports. and even unplugged.  Everything gets the 3 beeps followed by 3 more with good RAM in it.

With the RAM in slot 2/3 I dont get any beeps. So Im pretty certain 1/3 and 2/4 are (different channels) DIMM A and DIMM B and slot 1 is for single SIMM A

ALRIGHT.... we are back up and running.  Not sure why the RM850x didn't power up the graphics card... I got my RAM, his original power supply, and seems to be stable now and actually boots up normal now.    I did notice that all of the PCI-e 8 pin to 6+2 cables have an empty spot in one of the pins. I found several people asking that same question and it seems that it's a sensor wire and corsair just jumps the other sensor wire/ doubles it up.

Is the cap 64GB for this model?

ok, sorry, I had a little trouble following..
we finally had the graphics card problem combined with the problematic power supply?
