HP ENVY Curved All-in-One - 34-b135se
Microsoft Windows 11

I was using tax software when the screen suddenly went black.  I’ve tried a hard reboot but that didn’t work. The power light, which is usually steady when the pc is on is now blinking every few seconds.

Hi @Denniswb, Welcome to HP Support Community. 👋

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A blinking power light on your HP ENVY Curved All-in-One 34-b135se typically indicates a hardware failure. Since the screen suddenly went black and a hard reboot didn’t work, follow these steps to diagnose the issue:

Step 1: Check for POST (Power-On Self-Test) Beeps

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
  2. Wait for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
  3. Press the power button and listen for any beeping sounds.
    • Beeping sounds indicate a hardware failure. Let me know the number of beeps.
    • No beeps suggest a power or display issue.

Step 2: Check Power LED Blinking Pattern

  • Count how many times the power LED blinks before pausing.
    • HP uses blink codes to indicate specific failures (e.g., 3 blinks could mean memory failure).

Step 3: Reset Power & Hardware

Perform a power drain

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and try turning it on.

Check for display issues

  • If the PC has an HDMI output, try connecting an external monitor.
  • If an external monitor works, the built-in screen may have failed.

Reseat RAM & Storage (if comfortable opening the PC)

  • Unplug the PC, open the back panel, and reseat the RAM and SSD.

Step 4: Try BIOS Recovery

  1. Press and hold the 'Windows + B' keys.
  2. Press the power button while still holding 'Windows + B'.
  3. Release the keys after 30 seconds and see if the BIOS recovery starts.

I hope this helps. 🖥😇

Take care and have a good day. 🙂
