Blue Screen on Boot asking to select Keyboard Layout

HP Recommended

Jeet, I had the exact thing just happen to my computer and I ran the F9 test and when checking the hard drive the error code came up: B10HD-8. I have a Pavillion P6000 series, Model # p6540f. What do I do next as I cannot get past the "Choose your keyboard layout." Thanks!

Hey there! @Bill2Smiles, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues booting into your PC and you are getting B10HD-8 error when you run a system diagnostics test on the PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

Are you able to access BIOS or F2 page on your PC?

Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

The error you are getting - BIOHD-8 - does indeed indicate that your Hard Drive is failing and you will need to replace it with a new HDD.

If you are able to boot into BIOS try the steps recommended below to restore BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also,  try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your laptop are functioning correctly.

Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.

If you still have issues after trying out the steps it is a hardware issue with your PC. I will share you few details through a private message.

Please watch your inbox.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day! 🙂
