When I open the computer, it says boot device not found, please install an operating system (I've been using this pc with an OS for years now) and when I go onto system diagnostics the error code is PGFR6K-8SD9QT-XD4CRF-6OUNO3

Hi:
The error code translates to one word...Failed.
Not much to go on, but replacing the hard drive and reinstalling W10 should resolve the problem.
Below is the link to the guide for replacing the hard drive.

After you replace the hard drive, it appears that your PC is supported by the HP cloud recovery client utility which you can use to create a bootable USB flash drive to reinstall W10.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility. I believe you would need to replace the failed hard drive with one that is the same capacity (2 TB) in order for the cloud recovery client utility to work.

Otherwise, if you want a smaller capacity hard drive or want to install a solid state drive instead, you can clean install W10 by creating installation media using the media creation tool at the link below. You will need an 8 GB USB flash drive for that.

After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
