I have an HP Pavilion E9150T (that says E9000 on the back), an old model that does not seem to be in the "Product Name" dropdown. There is no "boot from USB" option in the BIOS.

If I upgrade the BIOS, will that option appear? Knowing how hard it would be to recover from a failed BIOS update (that renders the machine unbootable) I do not want to update the BIOS unless I know it will enable "boot from USB".

Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Hi,

The BIOS for the motherboard in your PC doesn't support booting from USB flash drives.

So you think that's true even if I get the updated BIOS (which I now see is dated Nov 2010, not encouraging)?

I guess I'm glad it can boot from CD, tho that is quite a lot slower than booting from a USB drive.

Thanks
