Recently, every time I start the PC after it has been shut down for a while, the BIOS fails to detect the SSD with the message boot device missing or failed. If I then turn the PC off and on again, it starts every time. It is almost as if the drive is not being powered up quickly enough to be ready for detection by the BIOS, but works second time around because it has been powered up during the first attempt, with perhaps enough charge in a capacitor to keep it going for a few seconds. I am not sure if it is an issue with the BIOS, the SSD or the power supply. I have moved the SSD to the top of the boot list and also increased the POST delay to 5 seconds (to give time for the SSD to power up), but the problem remains.
