Boot failure after Windows Update - Intel - net -10-1-2018

Some recent updates through Windows 10 have been causing a failure in my boot up.  In order to get my computer to function, I have to had to restore to a previous point prior to the updates and prevent the udpates from taking place. If I allow the updates through and restart, the boot fails again.   There are several updates, so I am not certain which specific one is causing the issue.  I suspect it is one labeled "Intel - net -10-1-2018."  It may be one of the Windows patches as well, but I am not happy that Windows seems to be forcing driver updates.  Can anyone help with this?

I have been talking with Microsoft technicians about this issue.  I was told that they do not have a solution for this problem at this time.  They will work on a patch for this issue and get back to me next month!  For now I will just need to keep Windows updates disabled.

 

This is incredibly frustrating.

I found this solution that seems to work from gsanders on another post on these forums:

 

"I have found what appears to be the solution  and it is caused by a Windows update released last weekend simply labeled “Intel - net - 10/1/2017 12:00:00 am - 18.33.9.3”. It has been causing issues where some of our users cannot restart, reboot and/or the screen saver causes the Windows spinner and one must go through waiting for the system to recover then restoring to the prior system restore point only to have the bad update reapplied shortly thereafter.

 

The solution is to download and install “WiFi_20.10.2_PROSet64_Win10.exe” from Intel. This will update the wireless driver to 18.33.11.2 and appears to resolve the issue.

 

I’m not sure why this has only affected some users where other users are running fine but I suspect there may be different versions of the same chipset installed."
