HP P7-1027C DESKTOP Win 10 64bit
I was having issues with the PC so I decided to do a recovery. With the upcoming support loss for win 10, I thought it would be best since my PC does not support win11 to clean it up.
I started recovery but chose the option to keep my files and data. Being that it would take some time I shut the monitor but left the pc running. The next day I restarted the pc and got ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. I was able to get into the bios and did a self diagnostic test. The result was no boot record found & 3F0 error. I also belong to groups. io which is a computer help & discussion group (CHAD).
I pulled the drive and docked in a sabrent external enclosure using a hp g71-340us laptop. I ran win properties tool check, Seagate Tools, Crystal Disk info, SFC no error errors and no bad sectors.
I created a USB with MS media creation tool. I loaded the USB and started the PC. I saw the usb flashing but I got to the windows log in screen where I put in the pin number screen and it was frozen. I did this a few times. I then decided to create a DVD with a media creation tool but the file is too large.
I pulled the cmos battery and did a jumper switch to clear the bios. The PC started up but it got to the pin screen. In the CHAD group they suggested pressing the shift when booting… That got me to the recovery screen. I tried the device options but there really wasn't an option to use usb. I went to the advanced option but I don't know the password and I guess the reason the usb didn't work was because it's not the same version.. I'm stuck… There was a point where I accessed the bios and checked all settings and boot order. I reformatted the ssd so there is no OS on it.
Do you have any suggestions for me at this point?

@VitoDelRe, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Boot Failure and Error Code 3F0 on HP Desktop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It seems that your HP P7-1027C desktop is experiencing a boot failure, indicated by the error code 3F0. This error typically means that the system cannot detect the boot disk or there is a problem with the disk.
Steps to Resolve Boot Failure:
Check BIOS/UEFI settings:
- Ensure that the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS.
- Restart your computer and press F10 multiple times to enter BIOS setup.
- In the BIOS setup, check if the hard drive is listed under the boot devices. If it's not listed, it could indicate a connection issue or a failure of the hard drive.
Run Diagnostic Tests:
- HP typically includes built-in diagnostic tools that can be accessed by pressing F2 during startup.
- Run the hardware diagnostics, particularly the hard drive test to see if the drives are functioning correctly.
Check Physical Connections:
- Turn off your computer and unplug all external devices.
- Open the case and check if the HDD is correctly connected. Ensure that all cables are securely connected to both the drive and the motherboard.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect any peripheral devices.
- Turn off the computer, and unplug the power cord.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect power and other devices, then turn on the computer.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

I did what Zoey suggested but I'm not to sure about ufei/legacy settings in bios.. The ssd does not have an OS on it. When should I insert the Bootable usb? The ssd does show up in bios. Still getting boot failure and 3F0 error code (F2). After Hard set brings me to automatic repair screen.

I got into windows set up. I don't have a windows 10 key.. I want to do a clean install... How can I get a key?
Activate Windows
If this is the first time you're installing Windows on this PC (or you're installing a different edition), you need to enter a valid Windows product key. Your product key should be in the confirmation email you received after buying a digital copy of Windows or on a label inside the box that Windows came in.
The product key looks like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
If you're reinstalling Windows, select I don't have a product key. Your copy of Windows will be automatically activat
If a copy of Windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup.
