Hi @Karthik1629 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the "Boot Device Not Found" error (3F0) and the message that the hard disk is not connected can occur due to various reasons, such as hardware failure, loose connections, or system corruption. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop completely.
  2. Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  4. Reconnect the battery and charger, then turn on the laptop.

2. Check BIOS Settings

  1. Turn on the laptop and repeatedly press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
  2. Go to the System Configuration tab and check if the hard drive is detected.
    • If it’s not detected, there might be a physical connection issue or a hard drive failure.
    • If it’s detected, proceed to the next steps.
  3. Ensure that the boot order prioritizes the hard drive.

3. Run Diagnostics

  1. Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly to access the HP Hardware Diagnostics.
  2. Perform a Hard Drive Test:
    • If the test passes, the issue may be software-related.
    • If the test fails or the hard drive isn’t detected, the hard drive may be damaged or disconnected.

4. Check for Loose Connections

If you’re comfortable opening the laptop:

  1. Turn off the laptop and unplug all power sources.
  2. Open the laptop’s back panel to access the hard drive (refer to your device manual).
  3. Ensure the hard drive is securely connected to its port.
  4. Reassemble the laptop and try turning it on again.

5. Attempt to Recover the System

If the hard drive is detected but the error persists:

  1. Use a Windows recovery USB to repair the system:
    • Create a Windows recovery USB on another computer using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.
    • Boot from the USB and select Repair your computer > Startup Repair.
  2. If Startup Repair fails, consider reinstalling Windows.

6. Replace the Hard Drive

If diagnostics confirm the hard drive is not working:

  1. Replace the hard drive with a new one or consider upgrading to an SSD for better performance.
  2. Reinstall Windows on the new drive using a recovery USB.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
