Hi @Lane7275,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Performing a hard reset can clear and reestablish the connections between the BIOS and the hardware.

For Notebooks with Removable Battery:

  1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Disconnect any peripheral devices.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the battery and plug the power cord.
  6. Turn on the computer.

For Notebooks with Non-Removable Battery:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
  3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
  4. Remove memory cards and disconnect nonessential peripherals.
  5. Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  6. Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.

2. Check for Blinking Light Codes

The blinking light codes can provide information on the hardware components that might be causing the issue.

By counting the blinks, you can identify and troubleshoot the specific issue.

3. Verify Power Sources

  • Ensure that the AC adapter is connected to a verified working power outlet.
  • Check the AC adapter and power cord for any signs of damage.
  • Test with a verified working adapter if available.

4. Reseat Connections

  • Reseat the battery into its bay to ensure proper connection.
  • Reseat internal cables such as the power connector cable and memory modules.
  • Ensure all internal components are securely connected.

5. Verify Memory Modules

  • Reseat the memory modules.
  • If the issue persists, test each memory module individually in each memory slot to identify if one of the modules or slots is faulty.

6. Use an External Monitor

Connect an external monitor to determine if the issue is related to the internal display:

  1. Connect the external monitor via VGA or HDMI and turn on the laptop.
  2. Press the power button and close the laptop lid to force video output to the external monitor.

7. Update BIOS and Drivers

Updating to the latest BIOS and drivers can resolve many boot-related issues. Use HP Support Assistant or download updates manually from the HP website.

8. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to run diagnostic tests on the hardware:

  1. Turn on or restart the computer and quickly press the esc key.
  2. Press F2 to open the UEFI diagnostics tool.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to run diagnostic tests on the system components.

I hope this helps.
