- Computer not used for a year
- no messages, warnings or weird noices, it just stops
- when F10 pressed by starting up, the line with F9 F10 and F12 just changes in the word "setup" and then stops
- I have put in a new BIOS battery
- pc won't start up by DVD or USB stick

Presumably, the power-supply is good-enough to allow the motherboard to display what you see.
Presumably, the processor is good-enough to allow the motherboard to display what you see.
Presumably, the RAM is good-enough to allow the motherboard to display what you see.
This leaves the motherboard & the BIOS.
So, try "clearing the BIOS settings".
Exactly how depends on the specific motherboard.
If that does not work, then its necessary to either replace the motherboard, or replace the whole computer.
Sigh.

Most of the updates for your computer: Software and driver results for: HP Compaq dc7900 Convertible Minitower PC
date from 2011 or 2012, making your computer an "antique".
Inspect the capacitors on the motherboard, looking for bulging or leaking.
If they are failing, then your motherboard will be "unpredictable".

Hey mdklassen,
thanks for the tips.
I put an new battery in, cleared the BIOS and inspected the motherboard.
No succes.
All seems normal but it still hangs on and stops.
No messages.
Can there be an correlation with the fact that the desktop was not used for such a long time?
