OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0255st CTO

I recently took the glass off of my Omen 30L desktop to dust the internals and once I plugged it back in, it would bootloop until I unplugged the A/C adapter and plugged it back in, but then it would start 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps without anything being displayed. Any fix?

Interesting: 3 long beeps followed by 2 short beeps on an HP Omen desktop typically indicates a memory (RAM) related issue. This beep-code is part of the system's POST (Power-On Self-Test) error code sequence, which helps diagnose hardware problems during the boot process.

 

Here are steps you can take to address this issue:

 

  1. Reseat Memory Modules: Turn off the computer and unplug it from the power source. Open the computer case and locate the memory modules (RAM). Carefully remove the memory modules and then reseat them firmly back into their slots. Make sure they are properly aligned and secured.

  2. Test One Module at a Time: If you have multiple memory modules installed, try testing each module individually in different slots. This can help identify if one of the memory modules is causing the issue.

  3. Clean Memory Contacts: Sometimes, dust or oxidation can affect the contacts on the memory modules. Gently clean the RAM contacts using a soft, clean, lint-free cloth or an eraser, and the RAM slots with compressed ("canned') air to make sure the memory contacts are clean and free from debris.

  4. Check for Damaged RAM: Inspect the memory modules for any visible physical damage. If you notice any broken components or signs of damage, it's possible that the RAM module itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.

  5. Update BIOS/UEFI: Just in case, check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your motherboard. Sometimes, updating the system firmware can help resolve compatibility issues.
