Hi @Amypous
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2003W is experiencing a frustrating issue where apps and software are unresponsive.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and press Shift + Restart to access advanced startup options.
- Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart, and select Safe Mode.
- Check if apps work in Safe Mode. If they do, the issue might be caused by third-party software or drivers.
Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select it).
- Look for any devices with a yellow triangle (indicating issues) and update their drivers.
- Focus on critical components like graphics, chipset, and storage drivers.
Run System File Checker (SFC):
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow.
- This will scan and repair corrupted system files that might be causing the issue.
Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus program to rule out malware as the cause.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Open System Configuration (type msconfig in the search bar).
- Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.
- Under the Startup tab, disable all startup items.
- Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
Windows Updates:
- Ensure your system is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Reset or Reinstall Windows:
- If none of the above steps work, consider resetting your PC (keeping your files) or performing a clean reinstall of Windows.
