HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0019
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The other day when I was using my computer as a media server and watching on another tv. I turned on my tv connected to my computer windows looked all washed out. I rebooted and during reboot the screen is all green instead of black except for logo. It reboots and still looks all washed out. I noticed when it was booting it didn't trigger my tv that high dynamic range was running. I turn off high dynamic range mode and windows looks normal. But the boot screen is still green. and when I re-enable high dynamic range windows looks all washed out and it doesn't trigger my tv to run in high dynamic range mode. So I assume windows thinks its running in high dynamic range but its not working correctly.

Things I've tried so far:  checked cables, different ports, updated video drivers, tried a different video card, also this happens with 2 different processors; ryzen 5 2600 didn't fix it,  updated bios (while updating bios all those colors were wrong too). video driver removal tool; and then when windows boots with no video drivers the green tint remains in windows.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking its mobo. Any chance this could be bad ram? only kinda easy thing I could check... thanks

Hi@Redgeb88,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing green screen issues with the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if the screen is green in Bios. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.

If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the screen.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out.
