My desktop refuses to startup

For example:

  • What is the exact HP desktop model?
  • When you press the power button, do any lights come on?
  • Do you hear any fans spinning or other sounds?
  • Is there anything displayed on the monitor?
  • Are there any blinking LEDs (such as the power button light)?
  • If there are blinking lights, how many times do they blink before pausing and repeating?
  • Did the issue start suddenly, or did it occur after an update, power outage, hardware change, or other event?
  • Is the desktop connected directly to a wall outlet or through a surge protector?
