Hello. I foolishly tried to update the bios to 7.16 using a bios file from Driver Collection.com. The program ran, restarted, then black screen and nothing. The PC wil turn on, but no video. The bios is bricked and cmos reset does nothing. Is there a chance I can recover the bios? Thanks.

There is not much else you could have done as HP has unfortunately removed these older systems from their site. I had to use a mod'ed 7.16 to get my cupertino2 motherboard to work with newer graphics cards (see last link below).
I believe you have the IPISB-CU motherboard. It was used for the p6 and p7 series. There are version 1.x and 2.x
Possibly the 7.16 bios was for the 2.0 version or vice-versa
A quick fix is to buy a replacement motherboard

Look at the pictures' and see if one matches yours including HP part numbers (if any) or at least the IPISB numbering
If you get a replacement try for a IPISB-CU that matches 2ab5, 2ab6 or 2ac2
