Hi @Nstacy, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the HP computer is stuck on the initial setup screen, possibly due to a previous owner's security settings. Here are a few things to try:

Restart and Check for Reset Option

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and restart.
  • If you get an option to reset the PC, select "Reset this PC" and choose "Remove everything" to start fresh.

Use a Local Account

  • If it’s asking for a Microsoft account, try clicking "I don’t have Internet" or "Set up with a local account" if available.

Bypass BitLocker or Microsoft Account Lock (If Any)

  • If the computer is asking for a BitLocker recovery key, it means the previous owner had encryption enabled. You’ll need to contact them for the key or reinstall Windows.
  • If it’s asking for a Microsoft account password, you’ll need their credentials or reset Windows.

Reinstall Windows (If Needed)

If nothing works, reinstalling Windows is the best option:

  1. Create a bootable USB using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool.
  2. Boot from the USB (press F9 or Esc during startup to enter the boot menu).
  3. Select "Custom Install" and format the drive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
