I just came back from vacation. I went to turn my computer on and it went into asking about memory training.  But when I try to push enter or escape or anything, there's no response at all.

Hi @Flatsquirrel81,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP computer starts a memory-related screen and does not respond to Enter, Esc, or other keys. The provided HP guidance suggests starting with basic no-start troubleshooting:

  • Disconnect everything not required and leave only the keyboard, mouse, and monitor connected.

  • Make sure the PC is getting power correctly.

  • If the system appears to power on but does not proceed normally, memory can be a common cause.

  • HP recommends disconnecting power, opening the system if supported, and removing/reseating the memory module(s) carefully.

  • While inside, also check that internal connectors are firmly attached.

  • Handle memory only by the edges and avoid static electricity.

  • If the keyboard is not responding at startup, reducing connected devices and checking internal memory seating is a recommended next step based on HP’s startup troubleshooting flow.

  • If the issue continues, search HP Support using the exact text of the error/message shown on screen for model-specific help.

I did figure it out on my own: read about the disconnect of my laptop from the power source; rebooted, did what was required and it was fixed.
