Hi @Dnt0130,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for reaching out. If your HP computer boots to a BitLocker Recovery screen and your mouse is unresponsive, here’s what’s likely happening and how to proceed:
What’s Happening
- BitLocker Recovery is a security feature that protects your data. It’s triggered when Windows detects a hardware change or boot configuration issue.
- The mouse not working on this screen is common, especially with USB or wireless mice, as drivers may not be loaded yet.
What You Can Do:
1. Use the Keyboard Instead
- Try using the arrow keys, Tab, and Enter to navigate the BitLocker screen.
- If you have a wired USB keyboard, it should work even if the mouse doesn’t.
2. Find Your BitLocker Recovery Key
- Visit: HP PCs - Using BitLocker and finding the recovery key (Windows 11, 10) | HP® Support
- Sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your PC.
- Locate the recovery key for your device and enter it using the keyboard.
3. Try a Different USB Port or Wired Mouse
- If you're using a wireless mouse, try switching to a wired USB mouse.
- Plug it into a USB 2.0 port (usually black) instead of a USB 3.0 (blue) if available.
4. After Unlocking, Suspend BitLocker Temporarily
Once you're back into Windows:
- Go to Control Panel > BitLocker Drive Encryption
- Choose Suspend Protection before making hardware changes or updates in the future.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
