So my friend gave me his computer to check out because he was having an issue where it would turn it on and immediately turn off. He gave it to me and, without doing anything at all, I was able to start it with no problems. I then proceeded to clean out all of the dust in the computer and afterwards I still had no problem turning it on. I gave it back to him and he is still experiencing the same problem. The power button does not stick at all, so I don't think it's that. What could it be?

1. "dirty" electrical power at his location, as opposed to you using a "surge-protector" to provide smooth power;

2. bad electrical wiring at his location.

3. loose RAM or video-card or cracked motherboard -- simply transporting the computer has perturbed it;

4. different peripherals attached -- disconnect everything, other than keyboard & monitor, and see if it starts for him.
