Windows 10 & HP Pavilion Power Desktop. Not sure why I couldn't put that information in.
I recently tried to install more RAM for my computer, but after installing it, my PC will no longer open windows, instead heading straight to the repair/recovery screen. The option to continue to windows 10 is clickable, but the computer immediately reboots itself when I do. The issue still persists even after reinstalling the old RAM.
Everything looks plugged in, and is identical to a reference image I took prior. Can anybody help me?

Hi @polybius6394,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Reinstall Original RAM:
- Ensure that the original RAM modules are properly seated in their slots.
- If you have more than one original RAM module, try installing one module at a time to check if the issue persists.
2. Check RAM Compatibility:
- Verify that the new RAM modules are compatible with your HP Pavilion Power Desktop's specifications.
- Ensure that the RAM modules you purchased meet the required speed, size, and type for your motherboard.
3. Use MemTest86:
- Create a bootable USB with MemTest86 to test your RAM.
- Download MemTest86 from its official website and follow instructions to create the bootable USB: MemTest86
- Boot from the USB and run the tests to check for any errors in the RAM modules.
4. Check BIOS Settings:
- Access the BIOS setup by restarting your computer and pressing the designated key (usually F2, F10, or Delete) during the boot process.
- Once in the BIOS, check the RAM settings and ensure that they match your specifications.
- Verify that no overclocking options are enabled that might be causing instability.
5. Clear CMOS:
- Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord.
- Locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard.
- Remove the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes, then reinsert it.
- Alternatively, you can use the CMOS jumper (if available) to clear CMOS as per your motherboard's instructions.
- Plug in the power cord and turn on your computer.
6. Perform System Restore:
- If your computer still boots into the repair/recovery screen, attempt a system restore to a previous stable state.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to choose a restore point before the RAM installation.
7. Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure that all other connections inside the PC (such as CPU, GPU, and SSD/HDD) are secure.
- Check for any loose cables or components that might have been disturbed during the RAM installation.
I hope this helps.
