Hi

Either, the data connections to the (HDD or motherboard), or the power connection to the HDD needs to be reseated, or the HDD has failed.

The system cannot see the HDD. This is why you cannot run hardware diagnostics as they are installed on the HDD which may have failed. You can run HP Diagnostics from a USB stick. Go to this site to download HP diagnostics on a USB stick.

Boot to the USB stick to run diagnostics. The version you need depends on the manufacturing date of your system. Or you can download the 3-in-1 USB key version which will run in mixed environments.

Check all connections. Try again.

No joy means you will have to replace the HDD and use an OS backup image, or reinstall the HP factory operating system, or download and install W10 clean.

Did you make HP Recovery media for this type of event? This media is usually available at the HP Software download site for your specific product number.

Let me know if you need additional assistance.

You will have to provide an HP product number so we can check your product's support site for HP recovery media.

Tom
