@WAWOOD

Thank you so much for all your efforts on this subject. Here is one more Q for your expertise........

I have removed the HARD DRIVE from HP PAVILLION - which has the image of WNDOWS 10 PRO.. Now if i connect this hard drive (which used to boot the other HP desktop with the WINDOWS PRO version) via USB connection would that work as a "second-boot" or am i totally in the "left-field"?

One option is to install a "VM Manager" on your computer, such as the free "Oracle VM".

When you run this app, you can reserve a chunk of your disk-space (50 to 100 GB) to create a "virtual machine".

Then, you could install "Pro" into that "guest" virtual machine.  Then, you can have a "window" on your "host" computer that displays the "guest" operating system.

Actually, Windows creates a minimal "VM" for each app that you run on your computer that is simultaneously running (E-mail, web-browser, Adobe Reader).  So, a "crash" in Adobe does not affect your other apps.

Your license to use the "host" Windows remains unchanged.

Hopefully, the license for the "guest" copy of Windows will work.

@KERICHO

I may be misinterpreting the advice given by @itsmyname but the simple fact is that the HP OEM license belongs to the PC, not to the owner of the PC.

It is simply not legal to use that OS copy on another PC, no matter how you connect it, either by moving the drive to the second PC, or by connecting the drive through an external enclosure.

You can, of course, run any VM you want on the second PC, but you can not use the licensed Windows from the first PC on it, at least, not legally.

Yes, I did not consider the software-licensing issue about running a "guest" operating system inside a properly-licensed "host" operating system.

But, it is something that can be tried. If it does not work, then something else can be tried. If it does work, another license for Windows will need to be purchased.

Yes @itsmyname

this is what I have already indicated
at home we say "who does not try anything, has nothing"
Otherwise, yes in order to end this interminable discussion, where it goes from contradiction to contradiction, the user can just buy a license.
You have to be careful, but there are unique product keys, without installation support
I do not give a link but just for an example of price
less than 20 € for some versions!
there are less than 5 € but there I doubt a little!
