HP-Envy curved all in one 34-a051
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

SSD slowly died with some error messages and now not even recognized.  I still have the 1TB hard drive.  Since ssd drive is dead, I can't clone operating system.  Any ideas on how I can make the 1TB the boot drive? How can I get windows back on it without purchasing another copy (I own the copy on it).

Your system came with windows 10 and was released in 2015.  Any cloud restore would  probably have an older copy of windows.  It would be better to install from Microsoft's latest version or even windows l1 if you prefer.

Since it came with 10 lit is likely that you will only need to download a few** HP utility such as the support assistant.

The parts list and spec for your 34-a051 indicates you may have a 128gb M.2 boot drive and a 1TB HDD or SSD

There are two videos that show disassembly of the 34-xxxx type curved screen and reveal the location of both of those storage drives (M.2 or SSD).  Please view both of them to see how the screen was supported.  You may want to contact HP to get a quote for drive replacement.

To install 10 or 11 use a  minimum 16gb flash drive**

Go here to download the installation media

You may want to put windows 11 on instead.

** Once you have the windows software on the flash drive you should download a few items from here

and add them to the usb  flash.  They may not be needed but it does not hurt to have them ready

- The network drivers dated 2016 (two of them)

- The audio driver Oct 2016

- The jan 2016 chipset driver

Do you have an M.2 or an HDD or both?

If M.2 then Western Digital has a 1.0 tb that should work fine

You will not need to buy another copy of windows.  It will be activated automatically from a license microsoft has a record of.

See if there is a cloud recover download

https://d34z73bbtpzgej.cloudfront.net/

put in your product ID including the 3 letters after the # char.

Buy a replacement SSD and use the cloud restore.

Thanks BeemerBiker - everything worked like a charm.  The SSD is failed and I'm not willing to disassemble to replace it. So I realloced the main hard drive and installed a fresh copy (fortunately, I had moved files off the hard drive some time back). updated windows 10 after the install, checked for drivers (all good) and pretty much back to operational.  THank You!
