@JGlennon, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
An endless update loop usually occurs due to a failed Windows Update or system corruption. Let’s walk through a few steps to resolve this on your HP 22-df0xxx All-in-One Desktop.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Power off the desktop completely.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall and wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and power on the system.

If the loop continues, proceed to the next step.

Boot into Recovery Mode

  1. Power off the PC.
  2. Power it on and immediately press F11 repeatedly until you see the Choose an option screen.
  3. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.

If Startup Repair doesn’t fix it, try System Restore from the same menu.

Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if recovery options fail)

If recovery options don’t work, you can reinstall Windows using HP’s Cloud Recovery Tool:

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

You’ll need:

  • A second working PC
  • A USB drive (32GB or more)

This tool will download the correct image for your HP 22-df0xxx and help you reinstall Windows cleanly.

Disable Automatic Updates Temporarily (Post-Recovery)

Once your system is back up:

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options.
  2. Pause updates for 7 days to prevent immediate re-looping.
  3. Then install updates manually one at a time to identify the problematic one.

Optional: BIOS Update

Sometimes BIOS updates help resolve update-related boot issues. You can check for the latest BIOS here: Official HP® Support

Enter your full model number (e.g., 22-df0123in) to get the correct BIOS and drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
