Hi @Renmndy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Desktop is not turning on after a Windows update, there are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Power Cycle:

  • Unplug the power cable from the back of the desktop.
  • Hold down the power button on the front of the desktop for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power cable and try turning it on again.

Check Power Connection:

  • Make sure the power outlet is working by testing it with another device.
  • If you are using a power strip or surge protector, try connecting the desktop directly to a wall outlet.

Hardware Disconnect:

  • Disconnect all peripherals and external devices (keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.) from the desktop.
  • Remove any external storage devices, USB drives, or memory cards.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure that the power supply switch on the back of the desktop is set to the "On" position.
  • If possible, try using a different power cable or power outlet.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the computer completely.
  • Disconnect all external devices.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the back of the desktop.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and try turning it on again.

Check for Signs of Life:

  • When attempting to turn on the desktop, listen for any fans or see if there are any indicator lights.
  • If there are no signs of life, it may indicate a hardware issue.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • If the desktop shows signs of life but doesn't fully boot, try booting into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key during startup. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers, and this might help you identify and fix the issue.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you can access Safe Mode, you may want to perform a system restore to revert to a previous state before the update. This can be done from the Control Panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
